Alys Stephens Center's “Kids on Stage” 2009 Summer Drama Camp: The Alys Stephens Center presents “Kids on Stage,” a drama summer camp for children ages 7-14. The drama camp is a two-week experience that shares with children the wonder and detail of theater performance. Campers will be introduced to many aspects of theater with a variety of fun, intense classes. They will learn theater games, improvisation, warm-ups, concentration exercises, voice and diction, terminology, acting and stage production. Best of all, the children will get a chance to showcase their newly developed skills when the camp culminates in a fully-staged production. The camp’s big show will be completely produced by campers and open to all parents and friends. Auditions will be required for casting. Alicia Johnson-Reed and Quinton Cockrell of "Make it Happen" Theatre Co. lead the camp. Cost is $325. Camp hours are Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with extended care hours for an additional fee. All campers should bring their lunch and snack each day. Campers are asked to prepare and bring a 30-60 second comedy or drama monologue and a song to class the first day for performance auditions. Observation and Rhythm to the acting process as students work on a fully

This summer the BSC Conservatory of Fine and Performing Arts offers
two Theatre Arts Programs. Creative Arts Camp will run June

Children’s Dance Foundation: CDF's StageDoor Youth Theatre Camp / Summer 2009! • For entering 6th - 8th Graders / In this 2-week theatre camp, 6th-8th graders will explore all aspects of theatre, led by a caring, enthusiastic and talented faculty of theatre artists, including Charla Cochran and Alexa McElroy. Goldstein's Private Acting Lessons: Jonathan Miles Goldstein, fresh off a New York production of Reflections of a Heart, and his National Television debut on NBC's Law & Order: SVU, will be in Birmingham, and offering private acting lessons, during July and early August. Leeds Arts Council Workshop: 2008. High School Theatre Workshop – The Leeds Arts Council – July 21 thru August 1. Conducted by Cliff Keen Jr. We are pleased to offer a theatre workshop for students entering 9th grade to 12th grade in high school. The subjects that will be covered are: Basic in Acting, Improvisational Theatre, Auditioning for the right role, Characterizations, Musical Theatre, Introduction to Dance with Dale Serrano, Set Design and Backstage. All of this will culminate into the “Broadway High School Review” at the end of the workshop. The show will be on August 2nd with two performances on that day. It will be a fantastic way for the talented teens in our area to have fun with theatre for two weeks and to show off their talents in our Review. The review will feature high school topics, for our aspiring actors and for our aspiring musical theatre students, songs for popular shows all performed in a high school setting. Some come and join us for two weeks of fun and theatre like you have never encountered. Magic City Actors Theatre
Musical Theatre Workshops: Magic City Actors Theatre
presents its second annual “Heart and Soul” workshops for children ages 6
through 12, and youth ages 13-18. These musical theatre camps focus on
acting, dance, music, audition techniques, stage combat, makeup, dialects, and
improvisations. At the culmination of the camps, participants may
audition for High School Musical 2 to be produced at the Virginia Samford
Theatre in September 2009. Enrollment is limited so act now to be part

Samford University Theatre Summer Camp: Samford University Theatre holds a summer theatre
camp for children ages 4 to 12. Campers will explore classic tales and invent
new ones based on their own experiences. They will engage in all aspects of
theatre production, including script writing, costuming, set designing and

Andrew Gainey for over 16 years in addition to having a Music Education major
from 2008. "SING LIKE THE BIG GIRLS" will be an eight (8) week series of
classes for those ages 10 and under who want to begin prepping their child's
voice for stage and competitions. Idina Minzell, Kristin Chenoweth, Eden
Espinoza of Broadway fame and Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and
Jordin Sparks from American Idol are the ladies that make millions $$
with their commanding "Belt" style singing. Start your child

The Academy at Grebel Ballet, under the direction of Stevan and Debbie Grebel, focuses on quality technical training in classical ballet as well as other forms of dance. Students are exposed at an early age to a disciplined, professional attitude, developing through the years the strength, line and flexibility of classical technique. Self-discipline and dedication to work, along with a love and appreciation of dance as an art form, are nurtured in each child.
